Didaskalia – The Journal for Ancient Performance

The online journal Didaskalia gives up to date information, reviews and essays about modern stagings of ancient drama. The reviews are especially useful for tracking important performances of your chosen play.

  • A whole Didaskalia issue devoted to performances of Electra, including the transcripts of two panel discussions, one featuring Zoe Wanamaker, whose performance in David Leveaux’s production (pictured above) saw her win the Olivier Best Actress award.
  • Didaskalia, has a whole volume dedicated to masks.
  • Didaskalia‘s second and third issues focused on the subject of ‘Translating for the Stage’. There are some really useful essays here which look at cultural translation as well as linguistic.
